Mr. Sullivan, my 12th grade English teacher, made us dress up in Burger King crowns and sword fight with paper towel tubes to make sense of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Here at the American School in Guadalajara we are going to use the internet instead. In the posts below, follow us as we seek to understand why this really is the greatest play in the English language.

ReplyDeleteSort of because he wants to get revenge, but he is not sure if he should when he is about to kill his ´uncle´. He has so much in his mind that he cna´t tell from right and wrong, unless he is told.

ReplyDeleteOne day I had dark chocolate and white chocolate and my mom told me to choose only one for my bro. I really love both chocolate so I couldnt decide which one to choose. At the end we shared both chocolates. In case of Hamlet, I think its because he wants things to be perfect and sometimes he couldnt decide because of his mother. Also there were so many things that happend that didnt let hamlet to complete his revenge.

ReplyDeleteYes. Two months before 9th grade was over my parents gave me the option to continue at ASFG or to change to a new school (TEC). . .It was a hard choice for me because many of my friends went to TEC but I saw the bigger picture and said that the ASFG would be the best option for me since it has been my school since kinder garden.Hamlet is being hard on itself because he needs to rest. He hasent really rest and think clear since he saw the ghost of his father since he is in a big rush to kill his uncle.

ReplyDeleteOne time my mother went on a business trip with my dad and she told me to take good care of a fish that she really liked. It died because I didn't treat him correctly. I had to choose wether to call her and get grounded or buying another one like those. I bought a new one hehe :D. Hamlet is right were he is supposed to be with all of this things that have happened to him, he is no state to rest right now.
I have never been on a situation of severe indesicion but I have been on situations were I have to take a decision and I end up regreting my decision. But I dont think it compares with the decisions that Hamlet has taken on the play like when hewas about to kill his uncle but he didnt because he wanted to make sure he would go to hell.

ReplyDeleteI have been inthat kind of situation. The first semester that I went to Switzerland I was home sick evry single day. When I came back to Mexico for Christams Eve my mom told me that if I didnt wnat to go back for the second semester I could saty. I thought about it a lot, and decided to go back, it was a one chance in a life time opportunity, and I made the right decision. I had a great time the second semester, when it ended in June, I didnt even want to go back home. And I believe Hamlet is not being that hard on himself, he just wants yo make sure that he get the revenge that his father wanted.
Ive never been in this kind of situation were the decision you make could completly change your life. Although I've never live this I have made decisions that required me to think them over and over and I can truly understand how Hamlet felt.
